Do not Fear just Believe!
I am sure you have heard this saying multiple times, even amusement parks have used it to boost their sales. But what if I tell you that this saying comes straight from the bible? Yes, Jesus said it to a man that was looking for healing for his precious daughter. This short story is found in the book of Mark where a leader from a synagogue went to Jesus looking for healing for his baby girl but the synagogue leader was quickly discouraged when he was told by some people to not bother Jesus anymore because his daughter had just died. Jesus overheard this and quickly told the synagogue leader “Do not be afraid just believe.”
But Jesus didn’t stop there, He quickly handpicked three of his faithful followers and did not let anyone else follow Him to go the synagogue leader’s house. When Jesus arrived at the home He found people crying and wailing loudly. He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” But they laughed at him. He quickly sent everyone out and entered the child’s room with his disciples and the child’s father and mother. Why do you think? Jesus proceeded to take the little girls’ hand and told her “Talitha koum!” which means “Little girl, I say to you, GET UP” and so she did.
It is important to point out that Jesus told the father “DO NOT BE AFRAID and BELIEVE.” How many times we’ve been told something that just looks impossible to fix? Secondly, Jesus recognized that the leader’s home was filled with unbelief and He did not let anyone come into the room with Him because their unbelief would interfere with what He was about to do. If you are serious about going after your healing you must supercharge your faith and surround your environment with people that support you in your healing journey. There’s enough unbelief in the world but not enough believers. Will you believe Jesus? Will you trust Him to deliver you? Will you believe Him despite your fear? Will you GET UP?
Mark 5:36-43
Prayer Declaration
Heavenly Father, I know I’ve allowed myself to be a victim of my unbelief and I have allowed fear to take over my circumstances. I ask you today to forgive me and help me recharge my faith in a supernatural way so I may overcome fear and my situation. Give me the courage to believe you over anyone else so I will GET UP as you hold my hand just like the synagogue leader’s daughter. Your word says you are an unchanging God, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. I know your heart for me is to GET UP and live a healthy and long life. In Jesus’ name, I pray amen!
